For the 10th straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2016."

Harbor House

Harbor House won the crown for Milwaukee's best view/patio yesterday, but it would seem the Best of Dining poll voters find the seafood there just as satisfying for the senses as the sights, as the restaurant comfortably claimed the title of best seafood.

The seafood restaurant's first place finish shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, however, as this year's win marks Harbor House's sixth straight in this particular category. Perhaps its the Maine lobster roll that wins over eaters ... or the whole roasted branzino ... or the crustacean bisque ... or all of the above and then some, delivered to a dining table offering views of the city as divine as the dishes.

As for the rest of the top five, St. Paul Fish Company came in a respectable second place, with Maxie's, Barnacle Bud's and Devon Seafood and Steak trailing just behind.

Runners up:
2. St. Paul Fish Company
3. Maxie's
4. Barnacle Bud's
5. Devon Seafood and Steak

Lori Fredrich's pick: Harbor House
Harbor House is my go-to for this category, mainly because I respect its decision-making when it comes to sourcing. The oyster selection is out of this world, particularly during prime season, and the staff takes pains to source from small purveyors who are raising them sustainably. I do wish the seafood selection was broader and more interesting in other areas, but that’s partially due to the demand from diners. If you feel the same way, you can do your part by voraciously supporting the more unusual specials, which sometimes feature lesser-known fish.

This year we also asked a variety of prominent Milwaukeeans to weigh in on their pick for specific categories. For this category, we consulted Robin Reese of Vangard Group, LLC.

Reese's pick: St. Paul Fish Company

I love seafood, and as I thought about it, my favorite spot was a little tough to nail down, but I'm gonna have to say St. Paul Fish Company. First of all, it's located in Downtown Milwaukee, walking distance from my office, in one of the coolest places in town: the Milwaukee Public Market. Whether you want a lobster dinner (yes, a WHOLE lobster dinner), fried fish, a po' boy or my favorite, the lobster roll, you can not go wrong here. They even have an oyster bar (I love raw oysters)! The food is always fresh and very tasty. And if you're a cook, this is one of the best places to purchase your fresh seafood items. So yeah, now that I think about it more, St. Paul Fish Company is my favorite, hands down.
