The Bakers Square Restaurant and Bakery at 15300 Bluemound Rd. in Elm Grove served up its last slices of pie before closing permanently after service yesterday (Dec. 9).

The following statement was issued by a company spokesperson regarding the closure:

“After very careful consideration, we have made the tough but necessary decision to discontinue operations at the Elm Grove, WI location. This is never an easy decision to make and one driven by many business factors, the least of which being the impact of COVID restrictions on our business.

"We want to express our deepest appreciation to our team members for their hard work and service, and to our loyal guests for their friendship and patronage over the years. It is also important to note that all employees will be provided a severance package.”

The casual chain restaurant, popular for its French Silk, Country Apple and Southern Pecan pies (among others) was the last of its kind in Wisconsin. Earlier this year, the location was one of only two in Wisconsin. However, in June, the West Allis location announced its closure, citing business losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This article was updated on Dec. 11 to include a statement from Bakers Square.
