I'm happy to announce that, when it comes to Netflix's list of departuring movies and TV shows in April, the list is fairly short. I'm ... considerably less happy to announce that the list, however, is filled with some really good stuff that I'm sad to see go. (And also "August: Osage County.")
Baseball may be back next month, but unfortunately one of the best baseball movies won't be around for it. "Moneyball" will get sent down to the minors – along with fellow Oscar players "The Artist," "The Town" and "The Shawshank Redemption." Indie gems like "Killing of a Sacred Deer" and "The Florida Project" will have to shine elsewhere as well, while "Star Trek: The Next Generation" will explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations on some other streaming service come April Fools' Day.
Meanwhile, the Big Red Streaming Monolith has apparently had it with these mother-effing snakes on its mother-effing streaming service because "Snakes on a Plane" will leave in April, along with the Bill Murray comedy "Stripes" and the lovely time-travel romantic drama "About Time." And while we're on the topic of heartbreak ...
Yes, cue Paula Cole one last time: All seven seasons of "Dawson's Creek" are leaving Netflix in April. I remember all the way back to November 2020, when the former WB teen soap hit was brought onto the streaming service with the hope that it could be the kind of comfort food, background-noise TV pickup that helped make Netflix into a behemoth. (Remember: The bedrock of its popularity, even with more and more original programming, was reruns of "Parks and Rec," "Breaking Bad," "The Office" and the like.) Alas, it would appear Dawson and company weren't that.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film.
