Pickleball isn’t just a summer thing! With indoor courts around the area, it can be a year-round sport that allows enthusiasts to keep up their skills and winning streaks despite the frigid temperatures.

Take, for instance, 1st and Bowl, found at 2969 N. 114 St., which will bring you its "Big Dill" pickleball tournament and watch party from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.

“We are thrilled to introduce our pickleball league, welcoming players of all levels to join us in the fun,” said owner Bryan MacKenzie.

Admission is free for all attendees on Saturday to experience a thrilling showdown between the top eight pickleball players in the Milwaukee area. Those in the stands have a chance to win too, with giveaways, exclusive league discounts and more throughout the day.

But that’s not all! 1st and Bowl will also kick off a five-week pickleball league starting on Tuesday, Jan. 23, so everyone can get in on the fun. The league will be open to players of all skill levels, with four to five games played per 90-minute session starting at 6:30 p.m.

“We wanted to give back to the community, and launching these leagues is just the beginning,” MacKenzie said. “In the future, we plan to host tournaments and championships, creating more opportunities for everyone to enjoy pickleball.”
