The Wisconsin PGA schedule is now in full swing, and its tournament slate will offer a great variety of competitions for both WPGA professionals and amateurs.
WPGA Professional Championships
The schedule is highlighted by the major competitions, which will feature four WPGA Professional Championships and three State Opens.
The 47th annual WPGA Match Play Championship at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine was captured by David Roesch, the Director of Instruction at Storm's Golf Range on may 15. It was his second consecutive WPGA Match Play Championship as he defeated the Washington County Golf Course head pro Craig Czerniejewski.
The second major of the year will be held July 21st-22 at Watertown Country Club for the WPGA Senior Championship and Aug. 25 at Ridgeway Country Club for the WAGPA (Assistants) Championship.
The WPGA Professional Championship will then conclude the foursome of events as it visits Eau Claire Golf & Country Club on September 8-9.
Wisconsin State Open Series
The series gives the best women, men and senior golfers throughout the state a chance to compete for some of the most prestigious titles in Wisconsin golf.
The series will commence with the playing of the 18th Wisconsin State Women’s Open on June 17-18 at Maple Bluff Country Club.
The 94th Wisconsin State Open will visit the Jack Nicklaus designed layout, The Bull at Pinehurst Farms, on Aug. 18-20.
Concluding the State Opens is the 30th Wisconsin State Senior Open on Sept. 2-3. The best senior golfers will visit The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha.
New for 2014
Two new pro-ams appear on this year’s tournament slate and each will be supported National Car Rental. The first of the two events, called the "Double Dip," will take place on June 16 at Green Bay Country Club and will professionals the option of either signing up as a twosome or a foursome. Teams that sign up as a foursome will get the chance to play in two different formats simultaneously.
One being a one of two net best ball and the other being a four player two net best ball event. In the one of two net best ball event the professional will team up with each of his amateurs to form three separate two player teams. The second event will take place later in the season on Monday August 11th and feature a four player two net format. The site for the August event will be announced in the coming weeks.
