Local coffee shops serve more of a purpose than places to catch a caffeine buzz. They are spots to socialize, intellectualize, organize, and, sometimes, grab a helluva sandwich at the same time.

Here are five new to you – or not so new to you – Brew City coffee shops.

1. Likewise
232 E. Erie St., (414) 914-9497

Likewise, formerly Wonderland, is a bright and airy cafe with fair trade coffee, friendly workers, ample seating and provocative, rotating art. Try the Autumn Sweater – it's their take on the classic Pumpkin Spice Lattee.

2. Dream Lab
