Azmi Alaeddin is opening a new restaurant inside the Downtown Milwaukee Intermodal Station, 433 W. St. Paul Ave.

It will be a sister restaurant to his Aladdin Tastes of the East at Milwaukee Public Market. Alaeddin, chef and owner of Aladdin -- Tastes of the East, has been cooking and baking his specialty foods in Milwaukee for more than 15 years.

In January 2008, I blogged about the need for coffee and dining options at Milwaukee's new $15.8 million Amtrak Depot / Intermodal Facility. Since then, the state and Downtown Ald. Robert J. Bauman have worked to secure a tenant. Ultimately, it was the entrepreneurial Alaeddin who stepped up.

Alaeddin is still fleshing out his full concept and working to partner with a local coffee vendor, too. He hopes to open this summer.
