Hunger Task Force announced today that Alicia’s Place: FoodShare Resource Center will celebrate its official grand opening at 4144 N. 56th St. in Midtown Center.

The new location offers one-on-one assistance for a variety of public benefits programs including FoodShare, with services including guidance in signing up, conducting interviews, printing materials and completing necessary verifications.

The new location is named for Alicia Williams, a former Hunger Task Force FoodShare Advocate and lifelong voice for underserved communities.  Williams will be honored for her dedication and service at a special ceremony during the grand opening of the new center on Tuesday, July 20.

Alicia’s Place joins the Robles Self-Service Center on Milwaukee’s South Side in offering these services. Both neighborhood-based sites aim to support the public by offering compassionate, dignity-focused individualized guidance without the long lines and limited hours found at other welfare offices.

The location is open to everyone and will primarily serve Milwaukee’s Black and Hmong families living on the North Side, offering services in English, Hmong, Burmese and Lao. The Robles Self-Service Center offers services in Spanish.

Alicia’s Place welcomes walk-ins during regular operating hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
