The long-awaited AntetokounBrosTV is finally here! This week, the five Antetokounmpo brothers – Francis, Thanasis, Giannis, Kostas and Alex – launched their YouTube channel designed to "share [their] funny moments and life journey."
Giannis’ older brother Thanasis introduced the new channel with a minute-long video, complete with goofy graphics, wild sound effects and English subtitles.
So many questions.
What will AntetokounBrosTV bring? Will the content strictly relate to Antetokounmpo shenanigans? How much family history will they show? How much will Thanasis there be, as he now plays professionally back in Greece? Will Giannis’ fellow Bucks players get involved? (If so, we need Giannis and his brothers to take on teammate Brook Lopez and his twin brother, and 11-year NBA vet, Robin in an Antetokounmpo-Lopez family showdown of sorts.
However, if the competition centers around antagonizing mascots, the self-titled AntetokounBros have no shot.) Will we get to see Giannis coaching his youngest brother’s high school team? Can we watch an AntetokounBros three-point contest? Also, who taught them how to shoot? (Giannis is a career 27 percent shooter, Thanasis was at 26 percent in his G-League days and Kostas shot 13 percent at Dayton and is shooting 5.9 percent in the G-League this year.) These are the questions I need answered on AntetokounBrosTV!
Ever since the Bucks drafted Giannis, Milwaukee has seen the close-knit Antetokounmpo family up close. The Bucks star brought his family to the Brew City in 2014 (minus the older Francis and Thanasis), and his social media pages are littered with images of his brothers.
Basketball is in the AntetokounBros blood, and now they are scattered around the world at all different levels. Giannis is, of course, averaging 25.9 points, 13.1 rebounds and six assists for the contending Bucks. Thanasis is on a two-year deal with Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League, where he was named the 2017-18 Most Spectacular Player.
Kostas was taken with the final pick of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks and is now on a two-way contract with its G-League affiliate. And Alex leads the way for nearby Dominican High School (4-1 this season) with 15.6 points per game.
Giannis is a worldwide phenomenon, and now we have another platform to enjoy his meteoric rise. The AntetokounBrosTV channel will be silly, wacky and amusing, but it will also provide fantastic insight into the path of one of the globe’s most athletically gifted families.
