Discover Wauwatosa recently announced the return of ART 64® – a live painting competition and two days of entertainment that culminate with one artist walking away with a grand prize of $20,000.
The 4th annual Art 64, presented by North Shore Bank, will take place Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 in The Village of Wauwatosa.
Sixty-four artists will showcase their talent in a bracket-style tournament where the public votes in real-time to decide which artists advance through three rounds of competition. Each participating artist is guaranteed a minimum of $100, with prize amounts increasing as the tournament progresses. There will be three rounds total, with the final 16 artists competing for the $20,000 grand prize.
The application for artists is now available online at Art64Tosa.com. The application is open to any artist over the age of 18. Artist Tyrone Acierto was last year’s grand prize winner.
The deadline for artists to apply is midnight Friday, Feb. 28. There is no fee to apply. A jury of artists and Discover Wauwatosa staff will pick the 64 artists, and they will be notified on Friday, March 21.
“We’re delighted to once again sponsor and support ART 64 in Wauwatosa, a terrific event that brings people together from all around. This wonderful annual gathering is quickly becoming a cherished tradition for our community,” said Mary Rose Balzer, Wauwatosa branch manager for North Shore Bank.
The 2024 ART 64 event saw over 11,000 visitors, thousands of votes cast for artists and over 100 tournament paintings sold. The event also included family-friendly activities, live music, food and drinks, and shopping from local businesses.
“As the winner of the ART 64 painting contest, I can confidently say it was one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences of my career. The live painting format challenged me to push my creative boundaries, while the support and energy of the community fueled my work," says Acierto..
"I encourage all artists to apply—not just for the chance to showcase your talents, but to join a vibrant network of creators and art lovers. It’s an opportunity to grow, connect and be celebrated for your unique vision,”
