Bango, the Milwaukee Bucks' mascot, was named the NBA Mascot of the Year at the league's annual mascot meetings in Miami Thursday night. Bango is just the fourth mascot to win the honor which is awarded by a vote of his peers.
Bango begins his 33rd season with the Bucks this year, a season that many are expecting big things from the team. "It is truly an honor for the Bucks organization, and for our fans worldwide to know that Bango has been honored by the NBA mascot community as the NBA Mascot of the Year," John F. Steinmiller, Bucks vice-president said.
Bango has truly stepped up his game in the past several seasons. His dunk off a 16-foot ladder during the NBA playoffs was one of the craziest and most daring mascot stunts I've ever seen. And, last season the team's clever scoreboard videos and time out shenanigans were some of the best in pro sports.
And, if this honor and the viral exposure from the ladder dunk aren't enough, on September 21, Bango makes an appearance on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel."
