Festival City is hopping this summer! OnMilwaukee's Festival Guide is brought to you by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. Escape the heat and step inside!

Get ready for a wonderful weekend – or make that wonderful oui-kend, as Bastille Days will bring France to the Fresh Coast for its 40th time starting today.

Running July 13-16 in and around Cathedral Square Park, Bastille Days will serve up French culture, French desserts and delicacies, dancing, live music, local vendors across all sorts of arts and abilities, and even the return of the beloved Eiffel Tower replica, taking its spot once again at the festival after taking some time off for repairs and restorations. The four-day French fest will even let them eat cake – but in a positive way – by handing out free cake to the first 1,000 attendees in Cathedral Square Park on Thursday afternoon. Because what better way to start a festival than with free dessert.

That's literally just the start of all the French frivolity headed East Town's way this weekend – so to help you make the most out of this festival that you can (or can-can), here's a guide to all the good times coming to Bastille Days this weekend, starting with the lineup of music and entertainment coming to the French festival's stages this weekend:

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
