It's been more than four years since the iPic went dark – but the big screen is officially coming back to Bayshore, as the town center announced this week that ACX Cinemas will move a new multi-screen cinema into the space during summer blockbuster season next year.

Found at 5750 N. Bayshore Drive, above the indoor rotunda, the new 42,951-square-foot ACX Cinemas location – the first Wisconsin spot for the Nebraska-based cinema company – will feature six screens, each complete with luxury heated recliners.

"We are so pleased to welcome ACX Cinemas and elevate the guest experience at Bayshore," said Mary Mokwa, senior general manager at Bayshore, in a release. "They are the perfect addition to our entertainment and hospitality offerings."

In addition to its half-dozen big screens, the upcoming Bayshore location will include gaming and bowling entertainment, as well as food and drink with Backlot Pizza + Kitchen – which will offer a full-service restaurant and bar, headlined by its Detroit-style pizza.

"We couldn’t be more thrilled to open our first location in Wisconsin and connecting with the community and businesses in the market," said Andrea Barstow-Olson, EVP marketing and partnerships at ACX Cinemas, in the release.

The new movie theater is expected to roll film in summer of 2023 – so stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more updates and a first look. And for more Bayshore info and events, check out thebayshorelife.com.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
