Powered by Tacos, the longtime initiative at BelAir Cantina that raises funds for local organizations, is officially back.
The program, which was temporarily paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently up and running at all six BelAir Cantina locations with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin as the beneficiary. The program will continue raising funds through May 31, 2024.
“I’m happy we’re finally able to bring back this program!” says owner Kristyn Eitel. “Powered by Tacos has always been one of my favorite community-driven endeavors and I’m just thrilled to partner with the great people at Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.”
The collaboration hits at a great moment for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, which is celebrating its 40th birthday and granting its 8,000th wish as a chapter.
“We are so grateful for BelAir’s support of our mission and helping us make wishes come true!” said Jordyn Dutkiewicz, Events Coordinator for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
The “Wish Upon a Taco”
This year’s taco, the “Wish Upon a Taco”, was created by Talia, a local Make-A-Wish Wisconsin alum, who worked alongside Executive Chef Noe Zamora to help create the truly one-of-a-kind taco.
It features a chicken tender crusted with Doritos, spicy pulled chicken, lettuce, chipotle ancho mayo and crushed Doritos tucked into a fresh warm tortilla.
In the first week of the program over 800 of Talia’s tacos have been sold. Even better, BelAir Cantina is donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the “Wish Upon a Taco to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
“We sincerely thank the BelAir Cantina team for supporting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin through the Powered by Tacos campaign,” says Dutkiewicz. “Wish Kid Talia created a delicious taco, and we know diners will love it as much as we do.”
The “Wish Upon a Taco” is available through May 31, 2024 at all BelAir Cantina locations in Milwaukee and Madison. The taco will also be available at BelAir Green Bay when that location opens later this year.
