The Outsider at the Kimpton Journeyman
When you're with the right person, anywhere can be perfect for date night – but according to the OnMilwaukee voters, few places set the mood better than The Outsider at the Kimpton Journeyman hotel. With its gorgeous view of the city, ample seating, tasty list of cocktails and beverages, and fireplaces helping to create a spark, both literal and romantic, it's no wonder this Third Ward hotspot is where Cupid calls home, according to the readers.
However, as you would expect from the most romantic city on Earth (according to "Futurama"), there's plenty of first-date finds around Milwaukee. For instance, in second place, just a mere 13 votes behind The Outsider, was Lost Whale in Bay View with its cozy confines and cocktail list that's serious but never snooty. And just ten votes behind that spot was last year's winner, Camp Bar, delivering a comfortable cabin hideaway for couples. The timeless cocktail classic Bryant's came in a close fourth, while Boone & Crockett adventured its way into the final spot.
They're all tremendous night-out options and worthy winners – though if you're with the right special someone, you're the real winner.
OnMilwaukee editors' pick: Tin Widow
Something quite strange about picking a bar with the word "widow" in the name for a romantic setting – but step inside Tin Widow, and it'll make more sense. For the OnMilwaukee editors, its cozy atmosphere – complete with a fireplace – vintage feel and classic cocktails make it the perfect spot for a first date ... and then hopefully a second. And a third. And so on and so forth.
Runners-up:
2. Lost Whale
3. Camp Bar
4. Bryant's
5. Boone & Crockett
