The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2010. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.

Kopp's is more than a custard institution in Milwaukee, it's a way of life. Year after year, it dominates this category, receiving almost three times the number of votes than the runner up, Leon's.

Kopp's is hardly new to the scene, though.

Elsa Kopp opened the first stand on Appleton Ave., in 1950, and her son Karl now owns three stores in the area. They also ship their delicious custard by mail, through their Web site at kopps.com.

Just how famous is Kopp's? It was notable enough to host Vice President Joe Biden this summer, who had some choice words for its manager.

But political controversy aside, Kopp's makes some seriously good frozen custard in a city that knows quality. Congratulations again, for creaming the competition.
