The epic battle of desserts, custard and ice cream brought a new winner to the throne for 2014 with Walker's Point Purple Door Ice Cream scooping up the win. The relative newcomer to Milwaukee won in epic proportions -- they dethroned Kopp's Custard with more than 30 percent of the votes.
With flavors like brandy old-fashioned and salted caramel Purple Door has become a staple in some of the best restaurant kitchens in the city. And you can enjoy it in Purple Door's own shop now, too.
Is this Wisconsin? Where custard is king? Milwaukee has eaten up what Purple Door Ice Cream is serving. Don't worry, Kopp's is still beloved to Milwaukee -- it won "Best burger, 2014" from our readers earlier this week.
The OnMilwaukee.com editors chose Le Reve as our favorite for the second year in a row. We still can't get enough of its amazingly tasty and well presented desserts.
