Even if I had not seen the news, read the paper or scanned the Web, I would know something was up with the weather today.
Why?
I just got back from the grocery store and the place was PACKED!
As Wisconsinites, we take pride in our hearty constitutions. We scoff when southern states shut down after a 2-inch snowfall.
Are we any better?
Reports of the upcoming cold, windy (wintry?) weather prompted people to make a run on milk, eggs, bread and the like.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of the state from 2 p.m. to midnight. Forecasts call for wind gusts of 35-50 mph and blowing snow.
The wind chill advisory will be in effect from 6 tonight to noon tomorrow, warning of brutal chills of minus 25 to minus 34 for three hours or more.
That's cold. Cold enough, in fact, that over the next 18 hours we may hear about some closings and cancellations.
But, is it really too cold to bundle up and stop at the grocery store?
I'd discuss this further, but I need to get gas for the car and snow blower before the mercury plunges.
