The American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin is looking forward to its annual Brave Hearts: Heroes Among Us event next year in May. I'm honored to be involved as a co-host for the event that will honor extraordinary heroes who live and work among us.
Each year, the Red Cross takes nominations for individuals who are true brave hearts. It's a way to celebrate a seemingly selfless act of courage, bravery or an action of lifesaving responsibility.
During this festive Christmas week, I'm asking that you please take part in the nomination process. Please think about someone that has saved or changed a life or lives of others. This would be an ideal time to consider individuals around you who make a difference in some way.
Awards are presented, in the following categories: Community Safety, Security & Resiliency, Emergency Response, Military, Animal Companion and Youth. All nominations are then reviewed by a committee determining the award recipients who will be recognized at the American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin's signature event – Brave Hearts: Heroes Among Us.
Brave Hearts takes place on Thursday, May 1, 2014 and is attended by nearly 400 people with all proceeds from the event helping to support our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
