Finally, Milwaukee has something a brew-fueled version of the Urban Bourbon Trail in Louisville, as VISIT Milwaukee is launching a free Brew City Beer Pass that will get you more than 20 free Milwaukee brews!

The pass, which will be launched on Tuesday, Sept. 14, will be available for download at the VISIT Milwaukee website and will unlock buy one, get one beer deals at nearly two dozen Brew City breweries.

Anyone who checks in at five breweries will get a free koozie. Make it 10 check-ins and you’ll get a T-shirt. Folks who check in at all the participating breweries will be entered into a drawing for something called the Ultimate Brew City Beer Pass Prize Pack ... how can that not be a great thing?

A free launch party will be held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Lakefront Brewery, where there will be a beer-themed raffle. Arrive before 6:30 and you can get a shot at a free Lakefront Brewery tour.

“Milwaukee knows how to make great beer, and now everyone can enjoy two beers for the price of one at more than 20 of the best brewery locations around the city,” said Peggy Williams-Smith, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee, upon the announcement of the pass Wednesday morning.

“I cannot think of a better way to support these remarkable local businesses who continue our legacy of being an amazing beer destination. Whether it’s an IPA, stout, porter, lager, pilsner, or even something sour, the breweries participating in this pass have something for everybody.”

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.

He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.

With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.

He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.

In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.

He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
