Former Drink Wisconsinbly sales rep Andy Braun and Craft Apparel’s Joe Royten recently combined forces to create a disc golf apparel company called Midy Disc Golf, which will launch its online store next month selling Midwest-focused disc gold apparel using sustainable materials as much as possible.
At the same time, the two are combining their love of the sport with a passion for beer – Royten’s Craft Apparel makes gear for numerous area breweries – and creating an indoor disc golf putting league this winter that will take place in four area craft breweries.
The league takes place on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 1, at The Explorium Downtown, Broken Bat in the Third Ward, Faklandia in St. Francis and Eagle Park in Muskego.
“We were looking for places with plenty of room and immediately thought of local breweries,” says Braun.
“We know the pandemic has devastated a lot of the local restaurant and bar scene. We felt it would help our local establishments, while following COVID regulations. Not to mention, having fresh local brew and tossing a frisbee is outrageously fun.”
There is no pre-registration for the league. Each session will be $5 per player on a first-come first-serve basis up to 50 players (which could change based on health and safety protocols).
The $5 entry fee will be split between the breweries and league director/brand ambassad0r Jake Helling, says Braun.
Prizes will be awarded for each session as well as to the overall points winner at the end of the year. All skill levels are welcome, and the league is beginner-friendly.
In addition to drink specials at each event, there will be disc golf equipment for sale from Play It Again Sports in Greenfield and disc golf gear from Midy Disc Golf.
