Jennifer Morales and Tina Owen announced last week they would close their feminist bookshop, Broad Vocabulary, 2241 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.,  but a group of people want to keep the shop open as a co-op.

The Phoenix Rising Fundraiser takes place Sunday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., to raise money to purchase Broad Vocabulary's inventory and assets, and to re-open the store as a cooperative.

The event includes children's story time and crafts, belly dancing demo and lessons, a Sex Toys 101 workshop, an "adult" story time / open mic and other events.  The store's resident knitting circle, FemiKnits, will hold a knit-a-thon.

The fun continues with an after-party in the back room of Sugar Maple, 441 E. Lincoln Ave., until 10 p.m.

There’s no cover charge to attend the fundraiser, but donations and investments are needed.  Co-op memberships will be available for purchase.
