About a week ago, Bublr Bikes installed a new bikeshare station on south side of Juneau Avenue at North 5th Street in the Deer District.

The station is just outside the Fiserv Forum and just across the street from the new The Trade hotel, expected to open in March.

When I visited today there were six bikes in the eight-bike station.

The station is the first of a number that will be coming to the area, according to Bublr Executive Director James Davies.

“There will be more 3.0 docks added around the district as soon as they are delivered, but the main 1.0 station that is all stickered up and pretty is installed on 5th (and) Juneau and is working,” he tells me.

Bublr, which has more than 600 bikes and 90 stations across the area, began installing the 3.0 stations in spring.

The 3.0 docks – made by CTS/Mighty Tough in Menomenee Falls – can be used in spaces too small for the traditional Bublr docks, like the one just installed on Juneau.

Before the installation of the 5th and Juneau Bublr station, the nearest ones to the Deer District were located at State Street and King Drive and at Kilbourn and Phillips Avenues.
