For the month of March, O’Lydia’s Bar and Grill is hosting a "Buy a Badge for Rittner" fundraiser for MPD Officer Matthew Rittner's wife and son. Rittner was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 9.
O’Lydia’s has not set a price to buy a badge, rather leaving it up to patrons to determine the amount of the donation. One hundred percent of proceeds from sold badges will be given directly to Rittner's family.
"Anyone can ‘buy a badge’ for any amount to help Officer Rittner's family," says Rick Sackett. "Donations can be any denomination and there is no limit to the number of times you can donate."
Upon purchase, the badges will be affixed to the walls with the goal of "wallpapering" the entire bar with badges.
"We're sad to have to run this promo again, but wanted to do something," says Sackett.
O'Lydia's offered this promotion in September 2018 after the shooting death of officer Michael Michalski.
