The new store will be located in the Mequon Pavilions, 10930 N. Port Washington Rd., and is slated to open later this summer.
"It's exciting to have a home," said owner Lisa Crum.
The move to Mequon has been in the works for about three years. Crum says that since opening Downtown, she's built a loyal base of customers from the North Shore area, many of whom drive in on weekends for fresh bakery products.
"I love being here," Crum said of the Market location. "We're going to keep this one open. We'll have the same products, we just won't be doing the baking here."
All baking operations will be transferred from the Milwaukee Public Market location to Mequon, a move, Crum says, will allow the Market location to focus on customer service.
"It's something that's important to me but is also very hard when there's work to do in back," Crum said.
In addition to the bakery, the Mequon store will also have an expanded café, which will serve breakfast items all day and will be named in honor of former employee Logan Laack, who passed away in August 2009.
"He loved breakfast," Crum said.
C. Adam's Bakery and Logan's Cafe is slated to open in mid to late August.
Mequon Calderone Club closed: The Mequon Calderone Club has closed.
Owner Gino Fazzari said that the decision was due in large part to the fact that his father, who was running that location, was getting older and was ready to leave the restaurant business.
"We just decided that it's not what we wanted to do anymore," Fazzari said.
The location opened in 1977. The Downtown, 842 N. Old World 3rd St., and Fox Point, 8001 N. Port Washington Rd., locations remain open.
Webb says farewell to Farwell: The Farwell Avenue George Webb location, which closed in April, will not reopen.
George Webb Corporation Vice President Ryan Stamm said that while the location was a popular East Side destination, economics came in to play.
"The cost of doing business continues to rise," Stamm said. "The real estate on Farwell Avenue went up and was too costly so we decided not to renew the lease for that location."
Stamm said the company was grateful for the support the location received from the neighborhood but there are no plans at this time to open a new East Side location.
"We encourage folks on the East Side to visit some of our nearby restaurants on Old World 3rd Street and Oakland Avenue," Stamm said.
Big Bay Brewing getting ready: Big Bay Brewing is still a few months away from opening its Shorewood location, but has prepared a few test batches which have gotten positive reviews.
Managing Partner Jeff Garwood says that the company is awaiting approval of its Brewers Notice. Earlier this month, the Shorewood Village Board approved a liquor license which will permit the retail sale and tasting of beer at the store, 4517 N. Oakland Ave.
The beverages will be produced by the Milwaukee Brewing Company.
In the meantime, the company has launched its Web site and maintains a Twitter account.
