A billboard with Judge Phil Chavez, who was formally installed as Branch 3 Municipal Judge on June 14 (following his election April 3), is featured on Newsweek.com and inside the Web site's print version this week.
Chavez, who joined current judges Derek C. Mosley and Valarie A. Hill on the bench last week, used a creative marketing mix that included online advertising (yes, he bought ads on OMC) and Clear Channel's new outdoor, digital billboards to defeat Jennifer Havas.
One of Chavez's outdoor boards is featured in the Newsweek story titled "Read this really, really fast." The story discusses the rise of digital outdoor advertising.
Judge Chavez will serve a four-year term. He replaced Judge James Gramling, who retired in April.
