I'm ashamed to say that despite living in Bay View for the last two years, last night was the first time I went to Chill on the Hill at Humboldt Park.

Overall, just like Jazz in the Park or Musica del Lago at Alterra on the Lake, it was a great experience. Nice and easy.

Free parking fills the fields just north of the bandshell, Hector's Mexican and Streetza Pizza fulfill the need for dinner and there's plenty of lawn space whether you get there at 5:30 p.m. or roll in mid-show at 7:30.

That's not to say there isn't a crowd. Bay View residents will run into most of your neighbors and the number of people driving in matches the crowds walking over. It really is a neighborhood event, but one with a wider draw.

Last night's De La Buena show was the last of the season, but keep it in mind for next summer; I'm sure it'll be back with another great line-up of artists.
