Instead of launching a traditional advertising campaign, Chipotle is creating a 4-episode series for Hulu.
The show, "Farmed and Dangerous," is meant to spotlight the world of industrial agriculture, which Chipotle goes out of its way to avoid in its fast food business. The show presents PetroPellet, a petroleum-based animal feed that promises to cut the costs of growing and transporting feed. The plot is meant to show that the industrial agriculture machine will do anything to cut costs and pays little to no attention to the food product that is being delivered to the public.
The series – which launches this week -- follows Chipotle’s other content efforts, the award-winning "Back to the Start" from 2011 and last year's "The Scarecrow."
"Farmed and Dangerous" stars Ray Wise of "Twin Peaks" and "Mad Men," who plays fictional industrial giant's Animoil's spin master. Eric Pierpoint of "Parks and Recreation," John Sloan from "Grey's Anatomy" and Karynn Moore of "Water for Elephants" also star in the series.
NEW ADS: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is running a new set of ads as part of a national campaign.
"As part of our sustained, aggressive outreach to uninsured young adults, we have launched a new television ad targeting moms of young adults - to help raise awareness about new affordable health coverage options available for them in the health insurance marketplace," said Julie Bataille, director of communications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
"Young adults see their moms as a trusted information source, and the purchase of health insurance is important to mothers with adult children and to young adults themselves. This ad is one more way we are working to reach young adults in ways that will motivate them to sign up for new affordable coverage."
The ads will run on Lifetime, ABC Family, Hallmark, Country Music, Channel, TV Land and Oxygen.
COMPETITION ON ICE: "Ice Warriors: USA Sled Hockey" is a portrait of the U.S. sled hockey team as they prepare for the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The program runs on Monday night at 9 p.m. on Wisconsin Public Television.
"Sled hockey, also known as "Murderball on blades," is played as aggressively as able-bodied hockey -- but these players battle with their sticks, their sharp sled runners, and the serrated ice picks used to propel their sleds," the release said. "Strapped into molded sleds, they're often playing at eye level with the fast-moving puck. It's a game of force, speed and strategy."
