Circus World is toasting 66 years in Baraboo with a special four-day Anniversary Days event, June 27-30 featuring $6 admission!
The big birthday bash under the big top will offer live circus performances daily at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the museum, 550 Water St., in Baraboo.
According to the Wisconsin Historical Society, which operates the museum, “the ‘Holidays!’ themed show is a live spectacle featuring kooky characters in dazzling costumes, stunning acrobatics and stunts, and even a heart-pounding motorcycle act on the highwire.
“Before or after the show, check out some of the intricate wagons on display – Circus World is home to the largest collection of authentic circus wagons in America! And make sure to leave time to explore the many circus history exhibits on site including the new ‘Teeth Work: Incredible Iron Jaw’ display, showcasing the incredible feat where a daring performer hangs high above the ring, spinning and soaring through the air – all while suspended by nothing but their teeth!”
Fun for the whole family, Anniversary Days – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. – is also a bargain with $6 admission, which is a nod to the 60 cents it cost to visit the museum when it opened in 1959.
Starting off with just six circus wagons on less than an acre of land, Circus World is now one of the Wisconsin Historical Society’s 12 historic sites and museums across the state.
The museum has grown to 30 permanent structures and more than 260 historic vehicles, including wagons, on 64 acres, on the site of the Ringling Bros. Circus Historic Winter Quarters in Baraboo, near the Wisconsin Dells.
Tickets for the anniversary event are available now.
Circus World also offers season passes – which is great if you want to return for other events, like this summer’s Classic Car Show – and admission is free if you become a Wisconsin Historical Society member.
While you’re there, don’t miss out on visiting the Al Ringling Theater in Baraboo. It’s a gorgeous venue and you can read all about it here.
Note that the theater is separate from Circus World entry fees.
