The City of Milwaukee Health Department today issued a new mask advisory – not a mandate – in response to the ongoing spread of the Delta variant and rising COVID-19 cases across the nation, including Milwaukee.

The advisory strongly advises everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask indoors when with people outside of their household.

The advisory follows the lead of the Center for Disease Control, which earlier this week altered course and recommended that fully vaccinated people once again wear masks indoors in places with high COVID-19 transmission rates, including schools.

“We are calling on our community to step up and mask up to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe,” said Health Commissioner Kirsten Johnson, in a release. “The most effective way to combat this surge in positive cases is through vaccination, but until vaccination rates improve, we must be willing to take simple steps such as wearing a mask to protect our community and the most vulnerable.”

Meanwhile, the Health Department still emphasizes getting vaccinated if one hasn't already. For information on vaccination locations and clinics, click here – and more information on COVID testing locations, click here

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
