It’s been just under a year since Cocina 1022 opened its doors in the former Chez Jacques at 1022 S. 1st St.

Today, the owners shared the news on Facebook that they’ve made the decision to close the restaurant.

And while the posting definitely points to an ending, it also promises new beginnings.

At least one is currently in play. Owners Kevin Lopez and his mother Judith Figueroa assumed the lease on the former Jalisco’s on North last fall, announcing that changes were on the way beginning in February 2019.

The restaurant at 2207 E. North Ave., has undergone an inaugural round of changes including adoption of a new moniker: Judy’s on North. But we anticipate more will be on the way.

You can follow Judy's on North on Facebook.
