Last month, I reported that the Comedy Café was closing and moving. At the time, it was true and confirmed.
Today, new owners say that the 22 year-old staple on the west end of Brady Street will close on June 20 for a face lift and is expected to reopen by Thurs., July 15.
The Safina family, who own Tutto restaurant and Notte night club on Old World 3rd Street, are the new operators of the Comedy Café.
"Our goal is to restore it to its old glory", said Sal Safina, co-owner. The Safinas intend to maintain a lineup of five-star comedians at the Comedy Cafe while also looking for up-and-comers.
A new exterior paint job already has given the place a fresh look. "I am excited for the change, it will be great for the club, I am happy to be on board, said Eric Brand, manager of the Comedy Café for the past 10 years, "This is what the place really needed", he said.
