With regularly rising COVID numbers and concerns over a new spike due to recent Thanksgiving gatherings, the Milwaukee Health Department today announced alterations to its current public health order, with revisions coming to the order's capacity limits on restaurants and bars as well as with team sports.

Under the new altered order, City of Milwaukee bars and restaurants with approved COVID safety plans are now capped at 50 percent of the location's capacity. Meanwhile, bars and restaurants without approved COVID safety plans are still limited to 25 percent of their capacity.

As for team sports, the revised order states that school and club team activities will only be permitted with approved safety plans that include routine COVID-19 testing – including intra-squad activites, which were previously allowed by the last public health order without a plan needed.

The new revised order will go into affect on Thursday, Dec. 3 and will revert to its previous version on Jan. 15.

“All changes in the public health order in Milwaukee are the result of a careful review of the available data, application of public health science, and analysis of situations where COVID-19 can be transmitted,” Acting Health Commissioner Marlaina Jackson said, in a release. “The Health Department is particularly aware of the alarmingly high rates of infection in Milwaukee along with seasonal activities that increase indoor contact and potential for COVID-19 infections.”

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
