In honor of June Dairy Month, the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison will host a "Creating Dairyland" Farm Breakfast on Saturday, June 21, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Breakfast, catered by Madison’s Brocach Irish Pub & Restaurant, will highlight foods from area farmers. Author Ed Janus will discuss the elements that inspired his book, "Creating Dairyland."
Janus, founder of the Wisconsin Dairy History Project, worked for two years as a dairy farmer in Crawford County, Wisconsin, where he fell in love with cows, fields, barns, and farmers. Since then he has interviewed hundreds of people as an audio journalist, writer and oral historian.
He will share the story of how caring for cows saved Wisconsin’s soil, created the state’s landscape and brought prosperity to the Dairy State. Janus will also discuss how the dairy industry continues to shape our lives today.
Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased online until Thursday, June 13. The breakfast will be held at the Historical Society at 30 N. Carroll St. in Madison.
