It's been two months since the deserted boat – a Criss-Craft Roamer known as "Deep Thought" – was yanked from Lake Michigan after it ran out of fuel in October of 2024.

And now, it's on the auction block and could be yours. A two-week online auction starts today, Tuesday, July 22, and it runs until Tuesday, August 5, at noon. The auction is open to the public.

The boat is being sold "as is" and the buyer is responsible for the 30-foot boat's transportation to its new home.

Back-story of the Milwaukee Boat

The boat's owners left the gasless vessel for dead on Lake Michigan's shoreline between McKinley and Bradford beaches and returned to their home in Mississippi. The boat attracted massive attention from curious and creative people, and eventually became a local spectacle/urban art piece.

In May, Milwaukee County crews partnered with All City Towing and finally removed the boat after failed attempts. The removal cost taxpayers about $50,000. Private donations of $30,000 helped to offset the cost, but the county hopes to recover the remaining $20,000 balance via the auction.
