According to several sources, including the Racine Journal Times, former Bucks forward Desmond Mason, who played his past two seasons with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, might be on his way back to Milwaukee.
He was traded by the Bucks for center Jamaal Magloire (who, for the record averaged just 6.5 PPG with Portland last season) just before training camp in 2005, and left town with some harsh words for then new Bucks GM Larry Harris.
Mason, who played hard for two-plus seasons in Milwaukee called Harris "a snake in the grass" and said he "flat out lied to my face" about the chances of being traded, even after the Bucks signed free-agent forward Bobby Simmons during that summer. He said this on Milwaukee's ESPN Radio (WAUK-1510) to host and occasional OMC blogger Steve Haywood.
Hopefully, Mason and Harris have made up knowing that his comments were probably from the hip and in direct reaction to his desire not to move. Mason and his wife, Andrea, and their daughter, Jada, were big fans of Milwaukee and very involved in the community.
On the court, fans loved him for his dunks, defense and style. Is he the greatest player out there? No. Some may say that he's past his prime, but I say that passion trumps and that he'll fit in well with our Bucks. He did average nearly 14 PPG last season.
As a passionate Bucks fan, I'll gladly welcome Mason back to our wonderful city and can't wait to see him, once again, in a Bucks jersey.
