The why
Vivent Health is among the nation’s leading HIV care providers, helping nearly 4,000 Milwaukeeans living with HIV and thousands more who are affected by this disease. Dining Out for Life supports Vivent’s food pantry, a service that reflects their holistic approach to HIV treatment. In addition to providing pharmaceutical treatment, they also attend to basic health needs including food, housing and case management.
The success of their approach is reflected in the numbers. Wisconsin patients have viral suppression rates of 95% compared to the national average of just 62%.
“As a community-based organization, Vivent Health must continue delivering the services and programs that meet the most critical health needs of our community and remain nimble so we can adapt as those needs change,” said Margaret Lidstone, Vivent Health‘s Chief Philanthropy and Community Engagement Officer.
“Dining Out for Life is instrumental in ensuring that this happens. All funds raised during this one-day event support the health and well-being of the Milwaukee community who need care.”
Dining Out for Life in Milwaukee is just one of many initiatives going on across the nation. Each year over 50 HIV service organizations partner with 2,400+ participating restaurants, 4,100+ volunteers, and 300,000+ diners to raise over $4.5 million for people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States and Canada. All funds raised through a Dining Out For Life event stay in that city to provide help and hope to people living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS.
