There will be some familiar faces in Lambeau Field next weekend when the Seattle Seahawks come to Green Bay for the divisional playoffs at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Seahawks, who beat Washington on Saturday, 35-14, are coached by Mike Holmgren. Holmgren, as if it needs to be said, was one of the architects of the Packers' return to glory in the early 1990s. He left the Packers for Seattle after the 1998 season.
"Green Bay is a special place for football fans and people that like football," Holmgren said in his post-game press conference. "It's very unique. When we were there -- my family and I -- we had a wonderful time there and have fond memories."
Since Holmgren left, the Packers are 2-2 against their former head coach during the regular season.
"Now we have to go back there and play them," Holmgren said. "We very excited about the opportunity."
The Seahawks and Packers faced off in the playoffs following the 2003 season. In a wild card game played at Lambeau Field, the Packers escaped with a 33-27 overtime victory after Al Harris returned a Matt Hasselbeck interception 52 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
Hasselbeck, of course, served as Brett Favre's understudy in Green Bay from 1998-2000. He was traded to the Seahawks in March 2001.
