With nearly 90,000+ people in Downtown Milwaukee during the work day, the neighborhood is full of life, personalities and buzz. Walking through Downtown at lunch is far from a walk spoiled, it’s a walk to be cherished.
Indeed some like to call golf "a long walk spoiled." I don’t play nearly as much as I used to, but I get the point.
A walk should should be good, rewarding, fun and -- if you’re an entrepreneur (which we all are) -- full of collisions and connections. This is why I love my walks through Downtown Milwaukee.
In fact, a walk through Downtown often feels like a walk down a high school hall way. Full of people you know, kind of know, want to know and maybe even want to walk away from. Damn bullies! I’m kidding, I don’t walk away from people in Downtown but I might have in High School.
Just last week on a walk to lunch I stopped counting at 12 the number of people I "randomly" saw and was really excited to see. Former co-workers, our landlord from our East Side OnMilwaukee.com office, fellow media people and even Ed, my longtime Downtown friend of more than 10 years now.
My point here? Downtown Milwaukee is the lifeblood of the state. It’s our entertainment, economic and social heart. From it flows connections, community and collisions. We all need to take more time to walk through our Downtown to not only better enjoy it but learn more about ourselves and those around us. And, remember to occasionally look up when walking too. The architecture and views are stunning.

He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
