The first movie doesn't screen until 12:15 p.m. today at the Landmark Downer Theatre on Milwaukee's East Side. Yet, at 9:15 a.m. this morning, there was already a line.
Not a line of East Siders, though. Rather seven, yes, seven turkeys who made their slow way across Downer Avenue to stand and hang out in front of the historic theater.
The East Side Turkey is somewhat well known in these parts. He even has his own Facebook page. But I didn't know there was an entire family. Much less, that they were movie fans.
Movie fan, or not, enjoy the above photos. And, be careful out there. Downer Avenue has yet to post "Turkey Crossing" signs.
A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.

He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
