Rhondi Love will open Edith Cocktail Bar in early February at 228 W. Wells St. in Downtown Milwaukee.

Love, who was born and raised in Milwaukee, has been fascinated by cocktail making and the ambiance of cocktail lounges for her entire adult life. In 2021, after a visit to a tree house bar and distillery in Chattanooga, Tenn. she decided it was finally time to open her own place.

With help from Ira Koplowitz of Bittercube, Love created a cocktail menu of which she is extremely proud.

“Ira helped me perfect my cocktail menu. He has been such a great assett and mentor. He totally took me under his wing,” says Love.

Love named the lounge after the main character in a 2015 horror movie, "Crimson Peak."

“The movie matched the vibe of the decor I’m going for in my lounge,” she says. "Ambient and cozy and intimate with a bit of a Gothic feel.”

Edith Cocktail Lounge will have a few soft openings in February that will invite small groups to visit during 90-minute spots. Registration will open soon on the lounge’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

“I have always been fascinated by the engineering process of making cocktails and I can't wait to share these recipes with Milwaukee," says Love.

Stay tuned to a First Look from OnMilwaukee in February.
