{image1}The Eisner Museum of Advertising & Design is striking out on its own, leaving the comfortable nest provided by Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, and you can help kick off its independence. This unique exhibitor of promotion, propaganda and publicity hosts a major event, a public celebration and fund-raiser, in its own house Fri., Feb. 6.

The celebration promises an evening of fun and merriment, music, food, beverages, silent auctioning and perhaps even a kissing booth.

The whole shindig, christened "I Love The Eisner," celebrates the museum's new path to autonomy, emerging from under the MIAD umbrella. MIAD created the museum in 2000, and recent discussions concluded that giving the museum more freedom would allow, in the words of MIAD interim president Mary C. Schopp, the Eisner Museum to "fulfill its mission of the exploration and celebration of advertising and design in American society."

Consequently, the Eisner is charting its own course by creating its own Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, new events, educational programs and mentoring, exhibitions, public relations and fundraising.

The "I Love The Eisner" celebration is where the fundraising comes in. For the price of admission, you can not only check some of what the museum has to offer on a regular basis, but bask in the musical glow of bands like Fat Bottom Special, Silent Jay and Trans Blue; enjoy theatrical performances; bid on items quietly in silent auction; converse loudly with other museum supporters, perhaps even kiss one in the kissing booth; all while satisfying basic hunger and thirst with catering from Saz's and a full cash bar.

Other places on this night may serve fish fry, but why not spend the evening at a place that celebrates Charlie the Tuna instead of a beer-battered cod? Tickets are $40 and the event lasts from 6 p.m. until midnight.

It's your chance to watch the Eisner come into its own, while partying.

Walk-ins are welcomed. Additional details and fresh updates are available online at www.eisnermuseum.org/love, or by phone at (414) 847-3290.
