The 16th annual Milwaukee Empty Bowls event will take place Sunday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the Kern Center at 1245 N. Broadway on the Milwaukee School of Engineering Campus.
Over 2,000 people attended the 2013 event, which raised $40,475 for local hunger programs. Even more impressively, since 1999, Milwaukee Empty Bowls has donated over half a million dollars to help diminish hunger in the Milwaukee metro area, with over 95 percent of the funds raised at the annual event go directly to aid the hungry.
Guests at the October event will be able to choose from more than 2,000 ceramic bowls handcrafted and donated by local artists, teachers and students. Soups prepared by local chefs will be served alongside bread and other refreshments, while guests are entertained by live performances by some of the area’s best musicians.
