Author and award-winning Esquire writer Mike Sager will visit Marquette University and give a reading from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the first floor student lounge in Johnston Hall, 1131 W. Wisconsin Ave.
The reading is free and open to the public and will be followed by a question-and-answer session. A reception for Sager, also open to the public, will be held in the same Johnston Hall student lounge from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19.
Before joining Esquire, Sager had been writer-at-large for GQ, contributing editor for Rolling Stone and a staff writer at the Washington Post. In 2010, he won the American Society of Magazine Editors' National Magazine Award for best profile for his Esquire piece "The Man Who Never Was," about the drug problems of quarterback Todd Marinovich.
"Bringing world-class journalists to Diederich College is one way we connect our teaching of theory and ethics with real-world practice," said Dean Lori Bergen. "Students gain so much practical knowledge from a polished professional like Mike Sager."
