Several times this year, I felt a cold or some other bug coming on.

But whenever a hint of the sniffles, scratch throat or any of the other annoying symptoms that usually signify the onset of several days of doom started to show, I loaded up on Vitamin C, clear liquids and plenty of rest.

Each time, I felt better in about a day and silently laughed at Mother Nature.

Today, though, I think the old lady finally got me.

The stuffy nose started Friday, the throat got sore over the weekend and today, the sneezing started. Ugh, it was time for a late-night trip to the drug store for Vitamin C supplements, apple juice and saltines.

Of all the times of the year to get sick, I think Thanksgiving has to be the worst. Personally, I wouldn't mind being home sick for Christmas and I probably would stand to benefit from a New Year's not spent out on the town.

But Thanksgiving? That was supposed to be my last culinary hurrah before settling into my new workout regime. Turkey. Turkey sandwhiches. Turkey casserole. Turkey soup ... what fun is gorging on some tasty bird if you can't smell or taste it?

I'm going to drink another glass of Emergen-C, and whip up some chicken soup before dusting off the warm mist humidifer and popping some NyQuil with the hopes of pulling out one las come-from-behind victory against the body.
