When Snoop Dogg released his song “Gin and Juice” in 1994, my guess is that he had no idea that – right around 26 years later – he’d be the owner of his very own gin brand.

But the iconic West Coast hip-hop artist has done just that, following up his VH1 series “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” with the release of INDOGGO, a laid-back new world gin developed with the help of friend and spirits veteran, Keenan Towns of Trusted Spirits.

INDOGGO gin is billed as “the ultimate remix” and features seven premium botanicals infused with all-natural strawberry flavor. The gin bucks the usual juniper-forward gin flavor profile with a recipe that favors botanicals like orange, coriander and cassis for its fruit-forward juice-friendly profile. It’s sugar free and certified gluten-free to boot.

Despite all those words, questions still remained. Could a Hubba-Bubba strawberry bubble gum scented celebrity-made gin be the perfect addition to our pandemic-friendly home bars? More importantly, is it any good at all?

These are the deep, haunting questions that OnMilwaukee culture editor Matt Mueller and I set out to answer in our latest FoodCrush Live. What's our verdict? You'll have to watch and see.

INDOGGO can be enjoyed on the rocks with a squeeze of lime or in a simple gin and tonic garnished with a slice of orange. But you can also follow Snoop’s lead and try out one of his own signature cocktails, like The Laidback (recipe below).

The Laidback: Gin & Juice
2 ounces INDOGGO gin
2 ounces pineapple juice
Top with club soda
Garnish with strawberry slices

INDOGGO is available at a wide variety of local spirits shops including Discount Liquor, Otto’s Beverage Center, Ray’s Wine & Spirits (along with big box shops like Meijer’s, Total Wine and Walmart). 

You’ll also find it in local bars including The Drunk Uncle in West Allis, Lost Valley Cider in Walker’s Point, Truth Lounge on Old World Third and Vintage 38 in Greendale.
