Owing to what the Village of Fox Point website calls, "irreparable mechanical problems with facility plumbing," the popular Fox Point Municipal Pool will not open this year and may be closed indefinitely.
The village website made the announcement in a post on Tuesday, writing, "DPW staff has been working diligently since before January to get the pool to an operational state, but it is unfortunately no longer possible.
"Very recently it became apparent that due to the age of the facility, staff and contracted services were no longer able to find replacement parts that are crucial to managing the mechanics of the facility as the required parts are no longer fabricated."
Those who bought memberships and paid for swimming lessons at to the pool at 7040-7098 N. Santa Monica Blvd. will have their money refunded, the site noted, as will folks who had reservations.
"Thank you for your understanding in this matter," reads the statement. "This news not a message that Village Staff want to deliver, but the pool in its current state is not operational."
We have reached out to New Barons Brewing Coop, which says that for now it plans to continue its beer garden at the site. Details on that venue can be found in our 2023 Beer Garden Guide.
