This summer's Family Kite Festival may have long since past, but there's still plenty of reasons to glide your way over to Gift of Wings' neck of the woods – particularly for the return of its free summer movie series, yelling "Action!" on its 2024 lineup on Saturday, June 15.
Hosted in Veterans Park across several Saturdays throughout the season, Gift of Wings' summer movie series invites movie lovers of all ages to watch some of Hollywood's most recent family-friendly blockbusters on its big screen under the stars. The free films begin around dusk in the park, with popcorn for cinematic snacking sold for just $1 along with other food and drink options available for purchase.
This year's big-screen slate includes:
- Saturday, June 15 – "Trolls: Band Together"
- Saturday, July 6 – "Kung Fu Panda 4"
- Saturday, Aug. 17 – "Barbie"
- Saturday, Aug. 24 – "Wonka"
- Saturday, Aug. 31 – "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire"
And if for some reason you can't make it to Veterans Park on one of those Saturday evenings, you're in luck: The summer movie series will once again host some monthly bonus outdoor screenings in Greendale as well, hosted at the park gazebo at the corner of Schoolway and Broad Street. The season began last Saturday with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," with two more 2024 dates remaining at this location: Friday, July 12 showing "Trolls: Band Together" and Friday, Aug. 2 screening "Kung Fu Panda 4."

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
