This summer's Family Kite Festival may have long since past, but there's still plenty of reasons to glide your way over to Gift of Wings' neck of the woods – in particular its free summer movie series, calling "Action!" on its 2022 lineup on Saturday, June 18.
Hosted in Veterans Park, Gift of Wings' summer movie series invites movie lovers of all ages to watch some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters on its big screen under the stars. The free films begin around dusk in the park, with popcorn available for $1.
This year's cinematic schedule includes:
- Saturday, June 18 – "Sing 2"
- Saturday, July 9 – "Jungle Cruise"
- Saturday, Aug. 20 – "Encanto"
- Saturday, Aug. 27 – "Spider-Man: No Way Home"
- Sunday, Sept. 4 – "Ghostbusters: Afterlife"
And if for some reason you can't make it to Veterans Park on one of those evenings, you're in luck: The summer movie series will host a few bonus outdoor screenings in Greendale as well, hosted at the park gazebo at the corner of Schoolway and Broad Street. Two 2022 dates remain at this location: Friday, July 15 with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and Saturday, Sept. 17 with "Sing 2."
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
