The first book by OnMilwaukee.com managing editor Bobby Tanzilo will be published later this year. It tells the story of anarchists and Protestant evangelist in the Italian communities in Milwaukee and their links to the 1917 bomb blast that resulted in the largest loss of police life in a single incident in the U.S. until Sept. 11, 2001.
The book -- which includes "guest appearances" by the likes of Clarence Darrow and Emma Goldman -- will be published in Italian by Editoriale Umbra, a publisher linked to the Emigration Museum Pietro Conti, as part of its paperback "Quaderni" (Notebooks) series.
The title and publication date have not been finalized but the work is currently being translated by Italian historian Ernesto Milani, who has written about Italian immigrants in Wisconsin and was instrumental in the publication of the memoirs of Rosa Cassettari, published by the University of Wisconsin Press as "Rosa: The Life of an Italian Immigrant."
