The coronavirus pandemic has changed our everyday life, but it doesn't need to change who we are. So, in addition to our ongoing coverage of the coronavirus, OnMilwaukee will continue to report on cool, fun, inspiring and strange stories from our city and beyond. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed and stay joyful. We're all in this together. #InThisTogetherMKE
Last fall, OnMilwaukee shared that the Glass Pantry, a zero-waste grocery store in Walker's Point, would be opening in the first months of 2020. For obvious reasons, that did not happen, but the shop is now offering online shopping and delivery or curbside service of their goods.
"We are focusing on as many locally sourced products as possible in order to help support our local farmers, millers, makers, and bakers at this time," says owner Jenna Meier.
Check out the selection at the online store here.
The Glass Pantry, 1039 S. 5th St., offers almost 100 percent organic items and uses all-recycled packaging. Items include dry goods like beans, spices, nuts, pasta, rice, coffee beans (from Anodyne coffee) and tea (from Rishi Tea); liquids such as oils and vinegar; cleaning supplies like detergents, soaps; personal care products including body wash, shampoo, toothbrushes, tooth powder and more.
Delivery is free anywhere in Milwaukee County for orders of $20 or more.
"We're trying to serve as many people as possible who should not be shopping or don't feel comfortable shopping," says Meier. "Whether you need to fill your cupboards or just realized you're out of a couple of random items like laundry detergent and pasta noodles, we're here for you."
